View connection status
The printer indicates Wi-Fi connection status using either a Wi-Fi icon
or small light
. Some printers also have a glowing blue light bar.
- A solid icon or light indicates the printer is connected to a network.
- A blinking light means the printer is not connected.
- No light indicates that Wi-Fi is turned off.
Enable Wi-Fi
If Wi-Fi is turned off, follow the instructions for your type of printer to turn it on:
- Printers without a display: Press the Wi-Fi button. You might need to press the button twice if the printer is asleep.
- Printers with a display: Touch the Wi-Fi icon to display the Wi-Fi status and then touch
or the Settings button to turn on Wi-Fi.
Confirm or reset the printer Wi-Fi network
Printers with a display:
- Touch the Wi-Fi icon to view the printer network settings and name.
- If you need to connect the printer to a network, touch
or the Settings button, and then "Restore Network Settings."
- Return to the %1$s home screen and add a new printer.
Printers without a display:
- Visit HP Support website and select your printer series name. Follow the instructions to reset wireless setup mode.
- Return to the %1$s home screen and add a new printer.
Confirm the mobile device Wi-Fi network
- Open the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device and confirm that you are connected to the same network as the printer.
- After both devices are on the same network, return to the %1$s home screen to check the printer status. It can take up to a minute for the printer to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
